Growing up, I loved arts and crafts. I learned from a creative mom who made the most beautiful things. Teachers always wanted to have one of the Michue girls in their class and it didn’t have anything to do with us, it was that my mom made beautiful gifts and baked yummy homemade treats. I must give credit where it is due and thank my mom for my love of crafting.
During my student teaching semester of college, I was blessed to have a cooperating teacher who suggested that I do my final presentation as a scrapbook. She took me to a crop and I was hooked. I remember taking pictures of events just so that I could make scrapbook pages. My husband used to say that we lived for scrapbook moments. When my first son was born in 2002, I was so excited to have someone to scrapbook other than my niece. I loved making his baby book. It is beautiful and full of pictures and memories. My second son was born in 2005 and his baby book isn’t as full but it has pictures and lots of memories. I began to find it harder and harder to find time to scrapbook so I just fell behind. Also in 2005, I attended my first Stampin’ Up! class and remember the night well. I was 7 months pregnant and it had been a hot summer day. I didn’t feel well but I had told my friend that I would be there and I felt obligated to go. I had so much fun that night. I felt the magic of putting ink on paper and creating something that I could give to someone. A whole new part of the crafting world was opened up to me and I haven’t looked back since. I signed up to be a demonstrator in November of 2005 and love my job. What started out as something fun to do as a hobby blossomed into a social outlet for me and an opportunity to teach others. I still love to watch the excitement that happens when someone discovers how easy it is to create a beautiful handstamped item. Since then, my third son was born in 2010 and he doesn’t have a baby book but he does have photos and recorded memories for me to add into a Project Life album. It is my new favorite way to scrapbook and I would love to share it with you!
Between the boys’ schools, church and sports, I find myself really busy but I am learning how important it is to add a personal touch to life. As I look for ways to do so, I hope you will be here to share your thoughts with me and feel inspired.
